Dream11’s Parent Launches HorizonOS — Open-Sources Tech Stack for Start-ups & Developers

Dream Sports, the holding company of Dream11, has announced an open source venture, HorizonOS. The concept: share the company’s ten-year old, very robust technology stack with start-ups, MSMEs, and developers, to various sectors such as fintech, e-commerce, health-tech, etc, free of charge.
After the ban on real-money gaming in India earlier this year, which affected Dream11’s business model, the company decided to take a different turn. Instead of letting the technology wait, Dream Sports chose to go a different way. Any developer or small business will be able to access the same backend infrastructure from which Dream11 was able to handle its massive user base and high-traffic spikes, through HorizonOS, a system capable of handling millions of users and large transaction loads.
HorizonOS has the means for a developer to build, test and deploy an app in no time. Also, it contains reusable components, deployment frameworks, and backend services for the large scale. What this means to Indian start-ups and MSMEs is the possibility of launching strong applications without having to build a tech infrastructure from the ground up, which is a great way to give smaller teams with limited resources a head start.
The introduction of the product is in time with MumbaiHacks 2025, which is said to be the world’s largest agentic-AI hackathon, where HorizonOS will be publicly unveiled for developers to experiment and discover. The open source move is also in line with India’s overall framework for digital sovereignty, which focuses on giving more power to homegrown talent, thus facilitating innovation and cutting down the need for foreign technology platforms.
Due to the high level of Dream11’s technology, which was built to cater 16 million concurrent users and tens of thousands of transactions per second, HorizonOS might be a game changer for early-stage companies. For many Indian start-ups, this may open doors to scaling faster and more reliably.
