Google Report Says Nigeria Leads Global AI Adoption

A fresh report that Google mentioned has ranked Nigeria the number one country in the world in AI adoption, mainly the use of AI tools for learning, support at work, and entrepreneurship. The report was revealed by Taiwo Kola-Ogunlade, the Communications and Public Affairs Manager for West Africa at Google.

One of the most remarkable things is that the Nigerians are heavily using AI in education and self-learning. Statistics show that 93% of the Nigerian AI users depend on AI for comprehension of difficult topics, while the global average is only 74%.

This suggests that AI is a learning shortcut and a support tool, which means that it is helping people to understand difficult ideas quickly no matter the area of school, career development, or personal growth. The report also gives a very positive view of AI as a teaching aid. It reported that 91% of Nigerian people regard AI as a good thing for learning and accessing information, while only 65% is the global average.
Additionally, it was discovered that 95% of the people questioned believed that university students and teachers would benefit from AI tools. The report states that AI has not only entered the education sector but has also permeated the daily work routines of the staff. The fact that 91% of Nigerians have used AI in their jobs indicates that AI is not only being adopted out of curiosity but also for productivity which is a clear sign of extensive use.

According to the report, AI’s role in the support of career and business growth is the most significant gain for Nigeria. The report shows that 80% of Nigerians rely on AI when searching for new business ideas or changing careers, whereas the global average is merely 42%. This implies that AI is no longer considered a luxury. It has already been recognized as an economic mobility facilitator that allows people to test their ideas, acquire knowledge and develop new earning models quickly.

In addition, the report has classified Nigeria as one of the most optimistic markets regarding AI’s future. A total of 80% of Nigerians confessed that they are more excited than fearful about AI’s potential. For heavy AI users, this excitement level reaches 90%. Likewise, the Google-Ipsos report states that 88% of Nigerian adults have had an interaction with an AI chatbot. The figures for the global average, in this case, amount to only 62%.

The report denotes Nigeria as a world pioneer in the area of practical AI utilization. The citizens of Nigeria are benefiting from AI in their quest for faster learning, smarter working, and career or business path building or redefining, with higher rates of adoption and greater optimism than the global averages.
